An Interview with The Iron Joe Creator ***

Tanker: Hi Scott, thanks for this brief interview about your creation "Iron Joe".

GIDefender : No problem Dave.

Tanker : How did you and Char come up with this great idea?

GIDefender : Iron Joe came to us as we were driving back to St Louis after Joe Lanta (I think) 2005. As always when we are driving Charlotte and I bounce ideas off each other in the event we ever plan a show in our area. Joe Lanta is a model event and we enjoy it's down home feel.

Tanker : It does have a very down home feeling. In 2004 I couldn't help but to ask if there was anything I could do because of that very feeling and here I am.

GIDefender : During the drive, I mentioned that there are a lot of great diorama builders from that area such as Mike Gardner, Patrick Kelly and so many others. I said wouldn't it be neat to have a contest where two folks could pick a master builder and compete for prizes? Char and I looked at each other and I instantly called Buddy with the Iron Joe pitch, the rest is history.

Tanker : Joelanta certainly does have access to the really good diorama builders and it is amazing to watch Mike and Steve work. As for Partick the work he does is just great and it would be nice to see him return and I must say that the pitch worked. It is one of the best contests I have ever seen. It works and it interesting to watch the contestants fly around the dealers trying to get their items...

GIDefender : We give contestants $50 and set them loose to buy off the sales floor. It helps the vendors on the sales floor as well. But seriously, Cotswold has been such a great supporter of this contest and the over-all show, I would give them a lot of credit. Yes, sadly due to conflicting schedules, Patrick has not been availble for some time. I would like to take him on some day in a 1-1 1-hour duel for dio supremecy.

Tanker : Well someday...somehow you and Patrick will meet up and the dual will be on!

Tanker : I have to admit the very first one was hilarious...4 guys building a diorama and 50 people trying to squeeze into that little room to watch and after the first 5 minutes of the opening it was clear that this contest was meant for Joelanta. No ifs, ands, or buts about it

GIDefender : Yeah the first year was great. The dios both rocked as well. It was then we knew it "could be done" and well, it doesn't hurt when there is no cost encurred by the contestant either.

Tanker : Very true.

Tanker : Thanks buddy, hope to see you guys there next year...maybe we can get that challenge between you and Patrick...THAT would have to be taped for Prosperity!

**GIDefender : Great! Looking forward to it.

Tanker : Again, Scott, thanks for this brief interview about your creation "Iron Joe"

GIDefender :As always, my pleasure
