JOELANTA CONTESTS!!

JOELANTA shows have always attracted some of the most talented customizers in our hobby! Check out the contests for 2008! More information will be added soon regarding the entry requirements for each contest.

There will be three contest catagories this year which include; Figure, Diorama, and Vehicle. The age brackets are; 12 and under, 13 to 17, and 18 and up.

Contest Rules for Dioramas

1} Dioramas should be no bigger than 36in X 18in. in dimension. Larger dioramas will be moved to a floor area that is protected from the viewing public.

2} Bases will be part of judging. There can be a supporting backdrop.

3} Dioramas should be within the 1/6th scale or 12 inch action figure realm.
A} Figures, vehicles, buildings, and other settings must be 1/6th scale or 12 inches tall.

4} Dioramas cannot be modified once they are placed in the judging area.
A} Exceptions to the rule are: Fixing a diorama that has fallen over and broken or has been touched and broken.

5} All items attached to the diorama base should be attached securely as the diorama may be moved and handled in some form by the judges. Although something falling off will NOT count against the judged diorama some pieces could be lost.

6} Controversial subject matter: If you believe that someone MAY be offended by the diorama please contact the show staff so that the diorama may be inspected prior to being placed in the judging area.

7} Remember, this is a family oriented show, be considerate with written markings, death, grotesque images, profanity, and nudity.

Contest Rules for Single Figure

1} The Figure is stand-alone.
A} Single figure means that there is only 1 (one) figure involved on a base for judging purposes.

2} Bases are not part of the judging of a figure.
A} A diorama style base can be used to support your figure but it is NOT part of the judging criteria and will not be used for points in judging.

3} Figures must be 1/6th scale or 12 inches tall.
A} Some company's figures are a little bigger or a little smaller. The use of 1/6th scale and 12 inch describing the size covers figures that are accurately portrayed in height and stature in this scale.

4} Figures in the 1/6th scale or 12 inch action figure realm are subject to judging.
A} This includes Hasbro, Dragon, 21st Century, BBi, Hot Toys, Sideshow, but is not limited to these and includes all others.

5} Figures cannot be modified once they are placed in the judging area.
A} Exceptions to the rule are: Fixing a figure that has fallen over and broken or has been touched and broken.

6} All items attached to the figure should be attached securely as the figure will be moved and handled in some form by the judges. Although something falling off will NOT count against the judged figure some pieces could be lost.

Contest Rules for Vehicles

1} Vehicle is stand-alone with no supporting backdrop.

2} Vehicle crews will be judged as supporting technical Detail.
A} A vehicle crew is considered those figures that in real life would be required to make the vehicle operate.

3} Vehicles should be within the 1/6th scale realm whether they are company manufactured or scratch built.
A} Scale can be an issue in this category. In definition; a 1/6th scale vehicle is that vehicle in which a 12 inch action figure can crew or ride. (Yes, even though the Bradley is out of scale it still qualifies as it was made for 12 inch figures.)

4} All vehicles in the 12 inch action figure realm are subject to judging.
A} This means space capsules, ATVs, Troubleshooters, and so on.

5} Vehicles cannot be modified once they are placed in the judging area unless to fix or repair a part that has become loose or has broken off.

6} Vehicles should be easy to handle by judging staff. If it can't be touched it will be hard to judge.

7} Controversial subject matter: If you believe that someone MAY be offended then please cover your vehicle or notify the show staff so that the vehicle may be inspected prior to being placed in the judging area. Remember, this is a family oriented show, be considerate with written markings on your vehicle such as profanity or nose art.
